The GDT PTR bone-level pterygoid implant is designed to address posterior maxillary challenges without the need for sinus lifts or bone grafts. It anchors securely in the dense cortical bone of the pterygoid plate, offering reliable posterior support in full-arch and atrophic maxilla cases. The PTR implant supports immediate loading protocols and stable osseointegration—making it a dependable choice for complex, graftless rehabilitation.

Its dual-thread body enhances mechanical retention, with sharp apical threads cutting into cortical bone for strong primary stability, and a compressive midsection to secure placement in softer trabecular bone. The smooth, machined collar at bone level helps limit bacterial accumulation and supports long-term tissue health.

    RBM Surface Treatment:

RBM Surface Treatment Technology transforms implant surfaces into a rough, hydrophilic texture designed for enhanced osseointegration. This advanced process roughens the implant surface without leaving behind any residual blast particles or debris. To achieve the optimal roughness, each implant is blasted with hardened particles such as Hydroxyapatite—including beta-Tricalcium Phosphate, Alpha TCP, and TTCP—as well as Calcium Phosphate (CPP). A subsequent, precise passivation treatment removes these particles, consistently reaching a surface roughness of Ra 1.2 to 1.5.

This method results in a rougher surface compared to traditional acid etching, which means a greater surface area for improved bone integration, enhanced retention, and superior biological fixation. Additionally, the implant is engineered for easy handling and secure placement, further boosting osseointegration and expediting the healing process. The RBM surface treatment not only promotes robust tissue growth around the implant but also ensures long-term stability without the risk of delamination or disintegration.

FAQs
What is a Pterygoid Implant and when should it be used?
Pterygoid implants are long, angled implants placed into the pterygoid process of the sphenoid bone, providing stable anchorage in the posterior maxilla. They’re ideal when patients have atrophic posterior maxillary bone, eliminating the need for sinus augmentation and reducing surgical time.
What does “tissue level” mean for this pterygoid implant?
A tissue level design means the implant’s collar sits above the bone crest, making it easier to maintain soft tissue health, reduce bone loss and simplify prosthetic workflows. This is especially advantageous in immediate load full arch cases, where hygiene and soft tissue control are critical.
Is this pterygoid implant compatible with AB Dental® Internal Hex components?
Yes! This implant is fully AB Dental® Internal Hex compatible, allowing seamless integration with existing prosthetic kits, abutments and multi unit systems. You can use it in mixed full arch cases alongside other internal hex compatible implants without needing separate components.
What surgical skills or tools are needed to place a pterygoid implant?
Placing a pterygoid implant requires advanced surgical training and experience, especially with angled placements in proximity to vital anatomical structures. OEMDent recommends this implant for oral surgeons and experienced implantologists comfortable with posterior maxillary anatomy. A long drill kit and angulated surgical handpiece may be required.
Why should I purchase pterygoid implants from OEMDent?
OEMDent delivers high performance, cost effective alternatives to premium brand implants, with strict quality control and exceptional compatibility. Our pterygoid implants are trusted by leading clinics worldwide for their precision engineering, reliable stability and immediate availability - so you can keep your surgeries on schedule and your patients happy.
